All reports of animal abuse or neglect in Wood County are investigated by a Wood County Humane Officer who works at the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, not SWCHS. Reports of animal neglect or animal cruelty can be filed with the humane officer by contacting the:
- Wood County Dispatch Center (non-emergency): 715-421-8701
- Marshfield Area Dispatch: 715-387-4394
The investigating officer will contact the Sheriff’s humane officer who will investigate the situation. If necessary, the humane officer will contact SWCHS to remove and/or provide temporary housing for the animal. SWCHS is not allowed to remove an animal without the humane officer’s authorization.
