Pawsitive Changes at South Wood County Humane Society
Positions Filled With New Faces
Wisconsin Rapids, WI – June 11, 2018 The South Wood County Humane Society (SWCHS) is thrilled to announce some key changes within our organization. Brett Thompson has joined us as Executive Director. Brett grew up in Stevens Point but now calls Wisconsin Rapids his home. He has a Bachelor degree in Health Science from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and most recently was a Route Sales Representative for Aramark. Brett is a long time dog behaviorist and former volunteer at the shelter. In his free time, he enjoyed helping with the training of the dogs that came into our shelter. When the Executive Director position became available, Brett saw it as the perfect opportunity to follow his passion of helping animals and to promote all of the amazing things that our Humane Society does for those animals. He is most excited about the shelter’s involvement with the community! In his words, “It means so much that we receive a great deal of support from our local community. If the community didn’t show their love and support, we wouldn’t be able to continue to do what we do. We can’t thank the community and the volunteers enough!” Brett is thrilled that he has the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful staff and he can’t wait to meet everyone. Welcome, Brett!
Beth Peabody has recently been named our Director of Animal Care. Beth has been a wonderful asset to SWCHS for almost 13 years. Beth oversees all animal care operations at the shelter and is best known for her strong work ethic and her willingness to do anything for the well-being of an animal. Her passion for animals is only overshadowed by her selfless personality. The list of things that Beth has done for the animals, and the Humane Society as a whole, over the past 13 years is truly endless. Naming Beth the Director of Animal Care was an easy decision and we can’t thank her enough for everything that she has done and will continue to do. Congratulations, Beth!
Another recent change is the hiring of our new Front Office Coordinator, Nicole Pfahning. Nicole is a Wisconsin Rapids native and a long-time animal lover. Some of the best years of her life were spent caring for a dog that she adopted from our Humane Society. We are excited to have such an outgoing, compassionate individual for this position. Congratulations, Nicole!
