A Heart of Wisconsin Business Alliance Leadership Class 2008-2009 Community Project
For the South Wood County Humane Society, March 6, 2008, was far from a “hopeful” day. This day would bring some 84 dogs to the Shelter who had endured deplorable conditions at a local puppy mill. All of the dogs were in terrible condition and in immediate need of medical attention. Two of the worst cases were Hope and her sister, Justice.
Arriving at the puppy mill, authorities and shelter staff found Justice and Hope left in the back of a stable to die. They both were riddled with life threatening demedex mange. Justice was unable to be saved. Hope, however, proved to be a real fighter. With staff and veterinary care, she bravely clung to life. Day by day, she grew stronger. After several months in foster care, her health and personality had returned to her. We are very proud and honored to say that Hope has been adopted into that same loving family, leaving these terrible memories behind her.
Hope’s story is only one of the many touching success stories our community has been blessed to experience because of the work and care given to the animals that pass through the shelter’s doors. This book is being dedicated to the story of Hope and has been made possible due to the generous support of local community businesses, organizations, and citizens. This community’s continued support of SWCHS is needed and appreciated.
We would like you to know that 100 % of the proceeds from the sale of “A Paw Print on Hope” will go directly to the SWCHS to be put towards their pursuit of a new home. We “hope” you enjoy paging through this coffee table book and will appreciate our intent to applaud Hope and the thousands of other companion animals who have found new homes with the help of SWCHS. We also pay tribute to the staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, and “Friends” that selflessly, care, and support The South Wood County Humane Society.
Thank you!
